Are you in need of childcare before or after school? We have your solution! Through our latchkey program we provide childcare for children in grades K-8 before school, beginning at 6:30 a.m. (8:30 a.m. on days we are on an unscheduled two-hour delay) and after school until 6:00 p.m. every school day. On our scheduled 2-hour delays, latchkey will still open at 6:30 am. Our latchkey monitor is Amanda Smith. She has many years of experience in the latchkey programs at Tecumseh Local. Park Layne students may also utilize the latchkey program at Donnelsville Elementary from 6:30 am - 6:00 pm. Students signing up for latchkey at Donnelsville will be bused to and from latchkey as requested by parents.
During latchkey, in addition to having time to play with their friends, we also give students the opportunity to get homework completed in the afternoons. During latchkey, students spend much time outdoors, weather permitting, and have access to the gymnasium during inclement weather. Students also have access to a variety of board games, building toys, craft materials and much more. Morning latchkey students have the opportunity to eat a school breakfast, and afternoon latchkey students are provided a snack at no additional charge.
