While students are enjoying their break from school over the summer, Tecumseh Local Schools stays busy preparing for another great school year with our Arrows!

Our custodians, as they do each year, have worked diligently scrubbing and waxing the floors, which look fantastic! They have almost completed this major project and all other cleaning projects scheduled for the summer months to ensure our beautiful buildings are ready to welcome students for the fall.

Our mechanics use June, July and August to fine tune our buses to ensure we will be ready to safely roll out the first day of school. Our district building and ground maintenance personnel spent their time in the summer taking care of repairs that need to happen when school is not in session, in addition to their routine duties. The technology staff uses summer vacation to prepare newly-purchased devices for student use and maintain our current technology to enhance instruction in the classroom.

Our teachers and staff will spend numerous hours preparing their classrooms and lesson plans for the start of the year and participating in professional development to learn new techniques to help their students. Central office personnel spend time closing the fiscal year and gearing up for the next school year. Hiring is a major initiative during the summer months and principals and district administrators dedicate many hours to finding the best candidates for open certified and classified positions. They also spend ample time planning and preparing for the start of another school year.

The chance for our students to relax and spend time with family and friends is a great benefit of summer break, but it also gives us a chance to get ready to offer our students the best education we can during the school year. It takes commitment and teamwork from all department personnel to prepare for the school year to begin, as well as keep all systems from academic to mechanical flowing smoothly throughout the year. Our team at Tecumseh Local Schools proves each year that they are up to the task! I often think of the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” when witnessing all facets of our staff working together so our students have the optimal educational opportunity, in a safe and caring learning environment!

We are looking forward to the start of another school year and we are anxious to have students return!
