From the Superintendent's Desk: Four Questions Parents Should Ask to Evaluate TLS

Recently the Ohio Department of Education issued “Report Cards” for every school district. Every school district is a bit different…even when compared to its close neighbors…yet the state continues to grade, rank and rate each district on the same, yet ever changing criteria. I’d prefer to offer this potential “Report Card” to everyone who has children enrolled in the district.

We encourage teachers to communicate with parents/guardians in a frequent and timely manner
regarding matters of behavior and academics, and we hope that there are never surprises when
parents/guardians attend Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences.

Further, we’d like you to be able to respond affirmatively to each of these four questions.
1. Does your child experience success at school on a regular basis?
2. Do teachers and administrators provide you with ample evidence that your child DOES experience success regularly?
3. Is your child learning anything of value? How do you know?
4. Does your child feel good about himself/herself?

Please consider adding your email address to the “E Newsletter” link on the district’s homepage, and the newsletter will be emailed to you each month.

If you ever want to discuss academics, curriculum or any other aspect of the district, please contact me via telephone (937-845-3576) or email ([email protected]). Thank you for your continued cooperation and support!
