Tecumseh Local teachers have been hard at work reviewing the 2017 revised Ohio Learning Standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics to ensure we are helping our students prepare for success.

Beginning with 4th grade teachers, the district has provided full professional development days for grade K-8 teachers to discuss their 2014 curriculum maps, which connect content standards and teaching, and the changes to the the 2017 standards. High school teachers are working on creating their subject-specific curriculum maps and implementing the 2017 revised ELA and Math standards in their daily instruction.

Kindergarten through 5th grade teachers have been reviewing the Pearson EnVision Math program and working on the newly adopted McGraw-Hill Reading Wonders series focusing on the online components by setting up classes and assigning content for students to use in their classes and at home.

During these meetings teachers have had great discussions about the standards revisions and how those revisions will be taught in the classroom to help improve student achievement in ELA and math.

The 2017 math and ELA standards are being transitioned into our curriculum this year and fully implemented during the 2018-19 school year. Students will be required to know the standards for the Spring 2019 state test.

Ohio Department of Education has provided suggested timelines for both ELA and Math, see the links below.
