On October 24th the Central Buckeye Conference hosted a Student/Athlete Leadership Conference at Bellefontaine High School.  All member districts of the CBC sent 4 male and 4 female athletes from each grade 7-12.  They were divided into two groups (7-9) and (10-12) by grade.  The groups consisted of one student from each school at each table.  The students were asked not to wear anything that identified them with their home school.  The day started with some icebreaker questions, and then the groups worked on seven questions related to leadership, sportsmanship, and playing multiple sports.  After each question, the individual groups shared their responses.

At 11 a.m. the students gathered in the auditorium to listen to guest speaker, Jerry Snodgrass, the OHSAA Director of Sport Management. He challenged the students not to be afraid to take risks. The students then ate pizza for lunch and talked to each other. The CBC athletic directors and principals have been pleased with the feedback received from the students and adults who attended the conference. The league is looking at ways to continue growing student leaders and to make it an annual event.
