Personnel have worked to realign the district curriculum in math for students who are accelerated.  The Math Teacher Based Team at TMS has adopted a curriculum intervention program for all accelerated math students called ALEKS.  This program will benefit our highest-level students with compaction of curriculum so that they may eventually take Algebra as an eighth grader.
ALEKS is an adaptive math program that provides each student with a personalized learning path. Using engaging answer tools, immediate feedback, and automatic assessments, ALEKS helps students review and master the skills needed to be successful in their math class.
All accelerated math students took a knowledge check at the beginning of the year for placement.  This knowledge check explained the student’s level of ability, and course work was assigned accordingly.  Students spend time both in class and out of class working on ALEKS at their individual level.  Students are being challenged at their unique level while growing as a learner.
