Students Changing the Future with Hour of Code

We live in a world surrounded by technology, and we know that whatever field our students choose to pursue as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works.

We live in a world surrounded by technology, and we know that whatever field our students choose to pursue as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works. With fewer than half of the schools in our country teaching computer science, only a tiny fraction of students are learning these critical skills. That’s why our entire school joined the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code!
The Hour of Code took place during Computer Science Education Week December 4-10. Students in grades 4 and 5 at New Carlisle Elementary School were given the opportunity to learn basic computer coding during technology class, taught by Mrs. Greene, using introductory level coding resources. Our Hour of Code is making a statement that New Carlisle Elementary School is ready to learn foundational 21st-century skills!
