The Personal Finance course at Tecumseh High School investigates many of the financial decisions students will make after
high school. Students will examine topics such as consumer decisions, banking
(checking/savings), budgeting, interest rates, loans, credit, taxes, and more. After
high school, students will be making money and making decisions that will
continue to affect their future. This course is a “must” for all those who plan
on managing their own money. Successful completion of this course will fulfill
the “Financial Literacy” requirement for graduation.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- explore the relationship of income level to supply and demand
in the market
- examine roles of consumers in the economy
- determine the consequences of choices affecting budgets, savings,
credit, philanthropy and investments
- explain the effect of interest rates on savers and borrowers.
- understand the difference between debit and credit, and the role of
financial institutions in relation to each
- determine the opportunity costs of decision making and borrowing for
short and long term goals
