Learning For All ~ Whatever It Takes!

TMS Celebrates a 'Year of Awesomeness'

Students in the Tecumseh Local Schools work to overcome life obstacles everyday. At Tecumseh Middle School (TMS), teachers are incorporating weekly life lessons entitled “A Year of Awesomeness” into the curriculum to help students succeed in school and in life.

The weekly video lessons are led by Josh Shipp, a youth advocate, motivational speaker, and best-selling author, with lessons including taking personal responsibility, developing self-esteem, making wise choices, earning and maintaining trust, and practical ways to overcome challenges in school and life. Students watch the lessons with their classmates and then discuss the theme through an implementation guide, private journal entry or class discussion.

TMS students and staff are working hard to meet the district-wide goal of creating a positive and caring learning environment where students feel supported both emotionally and academically, and students, staff and community feel safe and respected. “A Year of Awesomeness” is helping to bring this to fruition. TMS presented this program at the school board meeting on Tuesday, February 28 at 6 p.m.
