  • Tecumseh Local School district is committed to supporting student health and success through regular vision and hearing screenings. These screenings help identify potential issues early, ensuring every student has the tools they need to thrive in the classroom. Parents will be notified if follow-up care is recommended.     Vision & Hearing Information

  • Ohio Revised code section 3701.12 and 3313.671 calls for students entering the 7th grade to obtain a tetanus, diptheria, and acellular pertussis vaccine (Tdap) and Meningococcal (Menactra). Therefore, your current sixth grader will need to show proof of having received this dose of Tdap (name brands are: Adacel and Boostrix) and Meningococcal (Menactra, MCV4) before they return to school in August. 

    Immunizations are also available at the Clark County Combined Health Department. You may call them at (937) 390-5600 for the Immunization Clinic hours.

    Required Immunizations for entry into 7th Grade: TDAP and Menactra

    Any 6th grader receiving immunizations, please provide documentaion to the school clinic as soon as possible.

     

  • Medications at School

    If your child needs medication administered during the school day please note the following:

    1. All medications needing to be given during the school day MUST have a written doctor’s order and parent permission. This is a state law requirement.
    2. Medication forms are needed for students who carry inhalers/emergency medications. They are kept on file in the nurse’s office. This is a state law requirement.
    3. Students are NOT to carry any medications anwhere on school property without the proper paperwork on file in the clinic.

    End of the School Year

    Please make arrangements to pick up your student’s medication by your student’s last day of class. We are unable to store medications during the summer and all remaining medications will be disposed of.

  • At Tecumseh Local Schools, we utilize Clinic Forms to prioritize student health and safety with comprehensive documentation for medical needs. Key forms include the Allergy Action Plan, Asthma Action Plan, Over-the-Counter Medication Authorization, and Seizure Emergency Action Plan. These forms ensure that staff are equipped with the necessary information to respond effectively to health situations, fostering a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Vision/Hearing Information for Parents

Why is it important to have your student’s vision screened?

  • to identify if your student has vision problems or might be at risk for vision problems.

Vision Screening will consist of any of the following tests:

  1. Observation (all grades)
  2. Monocular Distance Visual Activity (K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11)
  3. Ocular Muscle Balanace Test (1st grade)
  4. Color Deficiency Test (males only in K or 1st grade)

If your studnet fails a vision screening, you will be informed of the test results either the day of or the day following the screening

It is pertinent your student is at school on these days and that they are wearing their glasses/contacts if the have them.

Hearing screenings will be conducted on grades 1, 3, 5, 9, and 11. If your students fails the first hearing screening they will be re-screened in four to six weeks. If they fail the second screening a hearing referral and report will be sent home asking you to follow up.
