Parent Reunification Plan
Dear Parents:
One of the primary goals of Tecumseh Local Schools is to provide our students with safe and supportive environments in which to learn. One of the many processes that the district goes through every year is the revision of district and building safety plans. As required by law, these plans are filed with the Ohio Attorney General’s office for distribution to local law enforcement officials.
Part of the revision process includes communication with parents. With this letter you will find the “Tecumseh Local School District Emergency Information Guide for Parents and Guardians”. The brochure describes how you can keep your child safe in case of an emergency at your child’s school. A part of safety preparedness is having a parent reunification plan to use if it became necessary to relocate the entire school population to an evacuation site. Such a move would take place when it is determined by school, fire and sheriff officials that keeping students in the school would be hazardous to students and staff.
We will use the Tecumseh Education Connection (TEC), Facebook, and Parent Square to communicate important reunification information to the public. It is critically important that your school’s attendance and/or guidance secretaries have all your necessary phone numbers so that we are able to contact you at any time during the school day in the event of an emergency.
When you arrive at Restoration Park Church to pick up your child, there will be four stations: A-F, G-L, M-R, S-Z. Please report to the station that has the first letter of your student's last name. Give the station worker your child's name. Once you have been identified, your child will be brought to you at the student release point.
• It is essential that parents first report to their respective station (Parent Report Point). We must be organized in order to ensure 100% accountability of our students.
** All individuals picking up students must be positively identified by our staff and provide valid identification. Unless a person's name is on our list as having your permission to pick up your child, we will not release your child to them.
Of course, we hope we never have to enact these safety procedures in response to an emergency event, but it is better to be prepared in case an emergency arises. Student and staff safety is one of our primary concerns at Tecumseh Local Schools. We appreciate your support and assistance in this important matter. Please call us at (937)845-3576 with any questions or concerns about our emergency planning procedures.
Sincerely,
Paula Crew
