Future Farmers of America (FFA)

Our History

In the early 1950s Tecumseh High School opens their first FFA program. Today we have a total of 125 active member between the high school and middle school programs.

Our Purpose

 To make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

 

What We Do

Our organization is constantly trying to assist our community! We hold annual blood drives, farm days and science fairs; encouraging our friends and family to join and find out what our chapter is all about. 

 

Our Goals

#1 – To develop competent and assertive agricultural leadership.

#2 - To increase awareness of the global and technological importance of     agriculture and it’s contribution to our well being.

#3 – To strengthen the confidence of agriculture students in themselves and their   work.

#4 - To promote the intelligent choice and establishment of an agricultural career.

#5 - To encourage achievement in supervised agricultural experience programs.

#6 - To encourage wise management of economic, environmental and human resources of the community.

#7 - To develop interpersonal skills in teamwork, communications, human     relations and social interaction.

#8 - To build character and promote citizenship, volunteerism and patriotism.

#9 - To promote cooperation and cooperative attitudes among all people.

#10 - To promote healthy lifestyles.

#11 - To encourage excellence in scholarship.

Tecumseh FFA Advisor: Todd Vehorn

Todd Vehorn FFA Advisor

Mr. Vehorn grew up in Botkins Ohio on a small farm in which his Dad and Mom still own and operate.  On this farm they raise cattle and 120 acres of corn, soybeans, wheat and hay.  Mr. Vehorn graduated from high school in 1996.  While in high school at Botkins High School he participated on the Basketball and Baseball teams and was very involved in his local FFA program by being very active with all of the chapter’s activities and also by becoming the Sentinel and Vice President of the program.  He was also very involved with the local 4-H program for ten (10) years showing steers and pigs. He also became a member of the Junior Fairboard of Auglaize County for three years while he participated in 4-H.

After graduation from high school he attended The Ohio State University to pursue his Agricultural Education Degree.  While at OSU, Mr. Vehorn was active in the Ag. Ed. Society and also was involved in officiating intramural sports.  Mr. Vehorn earned his degree from The Ohio State University in 2001.

Mr. Vehorn started at Tecumseh High School in 2001 and enjoys spending time with family and friends and also enjoys golfing and playing softball in his free time.

  • The Tecumseh High School FFA program operates under a set of policies and bylaws designed to promote leadership, responsibility, and the core values of agricultural education. These guidelines ensure that all members have a clear understanding of expectations, including participation, conduct, and eligibility for events and leadership roles. By adhering to these policies, FFA members create a positive, inclusive environment that fosters growth, teamwork, and success.

  • THS FFA Program of Activities serves as the roadmap for a year of exciting events, initiatives, and goals. It outlines opportunities for members to engage in leadership development, community service, career exploration, and agricultural education. From hands-on workshops and competitions to service projects and chapter meetings, the POA ensures a well-rounded experience that aligns with FFA’s mission of premier leadership, personal growth, and career success. Members are encouraged to participate actively in shaping and supporting the program throughout the year.

    THS Program of Activities

  • Proper dress is an essential part of representing the Tecumseh High School FFA Chapter at official events. Whether attending state conferences, competing in parliamentary procedure contests, or participating in ceremonies, students are expected to adhere to the FFA Official Dress Code. Dressing appropriately reflects professionalism, respect for the organization, and pride in being an FFA member. Students should consult their advisor if they have any questions about the dress code requirements for specific events.

    Official Dress for Gentleman

    • White button-up shirt with collar
    • Black pants
    • Black socks
    • Black shoes
    • Black or Navy Blue tie
    • FFA jacket
      • Zipped to top
      • Collar down
      • No foreign objects (i.e. Carhart stickers, etc)

    Official Dress for Ladies

    • White button-up blouse or shirt with collar
    • Black or Navy blue scarf (available through FFA)
    • Black knee length skirt or pants
    • Black panyt hose or socks
    • Black close toed shoes (pumps) with heal

    * No hats will be allowed to be worn at any time while official dress is worn

    ** Must have these items to board the bus for a field trip

  • Each year the Tecumseh High School FFA program launches several fundraising campaigns. This includes flower sales, fruit sales, etc.To find any current fundraisers, please checkout the FFA calendar.
