Johanna Brents, Board Member
Mrs. Johanna Brents began her service on the Tecumseh Local Schools Board of Education in January of 2018. Mrs. Brents is the Assistant Director of Transportation at Northwestern Local Schools and has worked in school transportation for six years. Prior to obtaining her Commercial Drivers License, Mrs. Brents stayed home with her children following nearly ten years of customer service, personnel training and leadership experience in the financial institution industry. She is a graduate of Chillicothe High School.
Over the past ten years, Mrs. Brents has volunteered in Tecumseh elementary schools, as a Room Parent, with the Tecumseh PTO and as a youth baseball coach with her husband, Ryan. She is currently a volunteer for Arrows Parent Nation. Mrs. and Mr. Brents are the parents of three sons attending Tecumseh schools: Lane, Class of 2020; Josh, Class of 2022; and Cole, Class of 2025.
Mrs. Brent’s term expires December 31, 2021.
Sue Anne Martin, Board Member
Ms. Sue Anne Martin began her first term on the Tecumseh Board of Education in January 2018. She is the Ecommerce Manager with Gardens Alive in Tipp City, managing all things digital for one of the company’s horticultural brands. Previously, she has worked at Standard Register building custom invoicing solutions for clients and was a vice president and financial analyst with National City Bank for 16 years. Ms. Martin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wright State and Master of Arts in Management from Antioch University Midwest.
Ms. Martin is the president of the New Carlisle Breakfast Optimist Club and the New Carlisle Public Library Board of Trustees. She is a graduate of Tecumseh High School and many of her family members graduated from or attend Tecumseh schools, including nieces Hannah Peck, Class of 2017, and Delaney Martin, Class of 2021. Ms. Martin and her parents, Penny and David Martin, are avid Tecumseh sports fans and attend plays and concerts in the district.
Ms. Martin’s term expires December 31, 2021.
Peter Scarff, Board President
Mr. Peter Scarff joined the Tecumseh Board of Education in January of 2008, and is currently serving his third term. He is the President of Scarff’s Nursery, where he has worked since 1985. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Ohio University.
Mr. Scarff is a member and past president and treasurer of New Carlisle Rotary, a former board member of the New Carlisle Library board, and a past president of the Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association. He is a deacon at Lake Avenue Christian Church, and blood donor. Mr. Scarff and his wife, Cindy, have three children: Nelson, who is expecting the couple’s first grandchild this fall with his wife, Megan; Hank, who works at a YoungLife camp in Virginia; and Anna, who recently graduated from The Ohio State University and is married to Thomas.
His term expires on December 31, 2019.
Corinne Scott, Board Vice President
Mrs. Corinne Scott joined the Tecumseh Local Schools Board of Education in January of 2016. Mrs. Scott holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton, and has completed MBA coursework at Ashland University. She works at SelectTech Geospatial, LLC, in Springfield, where she is a Quality Manager.
Mrs. Scott is currently serving as a Girl Scout Troop Leader and as the Leadership Experience Chair for the Honey Creek Service Unit; and active member of the Tecumseh Band Boosters.. She is a member of Sacred Heart Church. She and her husband, Frank, have two daughters, Taylor (Buis), a 2013 graduate of Tecumseh High School and Springfield-Clark Career Tech Center, and Rachel, a member of the Tecumseh High School Class of 2021. They have one grandson and one granddaughter.
Mrs. Scott’s term expires on December 31, 2019.
Suzanne Slagell, Board Member
Mrs. Suzane Slagell joined the Tecumseh Local Schools Board of Education in January of 2018. Mrs. Slagell has nine years of experience in the foster care system and she and her husband are currently licensed foster care parents. She also has 15 years of leadership experience at her church. A second generation Tecumseh graduate, she has worked on ogoing education in history and Spanish at Wright State University and the University of Texas at Arlington.
Mrs. Slagell is active in the community and schools with volunteere and service work, including the BCU Pantry, community service events with the local congregation, and previous involvement with the summer food program, reading buddies and Medway PTO. She and her husband of 19 years are the parents of five children, throug birth and adoption, ages four to sixtee. Four of their children currently attend Tecumseh schools with the youngest anticipated to start kindergarten in the fall.
