Students

Student Google Accounts

Each student from K through 12th grade will be issued a district google account AND a district Chromebook Device )Device agreement form must be signed). These tools allow students access to many applications, complete assignments online, and be assed with various district assessments as well as the Ohio State Tests. Applications iclude but is not limited to GMail (inside the district only except for Juniors and Seniors), Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Classroom, as well as many others.
 
Student accounts become active approximately 48 hours after enrollment into the district has been completed.

Each graduating senior will have access to their Google accounts until December 31st of their graduation year.

Student Chromebook Devices

The Tecumseh Local School District is encouraging the use of 1:1 devices and the network, including the internet, as a tool for research and education.  The provided Chromebook, like any other school property, must be used for the educational purposes for which they are intended.  The Chromebooks issued to students are the property of the Tecumseh Local School District.

Before a Chromebook is issued for use, students and parents/guardians must sign an Acceptable Use Policy, Student User Agreement and the Parent Permission Form.

Student Expectations

As a learner I will:

  • Make sure the Chromebook/case/charger is not subject to careless or intentional damage

  • Ensure the Chromebook is charged each evening and ready for use the next day.

  • Store my Chromebook in a safe place when not in use

  • Ensure the chromebook/case/charger is kept clean and free of dirt, dust, food particles, or anything which would harm the device/case/charger

  • Use my Chromebook for educational purposes only as directed by teachers

  • Not install or download software not approved by administrators or teachers.

  • Not lend the Chromebook to anyone 

  • Not attempt to repair the Chromebook/charger

  • Not remove, deface or alter any of the identifying tags, serial numbers, or inventory numbers that have been placed on the device.

  • Not use the Chromebook with personal email accounts

  • Only use my school issued email account

Responsibilities

By signing the Acceptable Use Policy and  User Agreement and Parent Permission Form via Final Forms, students and parents or guardians agree to:

  • Submit the Chromebook to school personnel upon request.

  • Protect the Chromebook from damage and theft 

  • If damage is willful, intentional, or purposeful the parents or guardians will pay the FULL replacement(repair) cost of the Chromebook and/or AC power adapter.  

  • Report to the school any problems with the Chromebook


Accelerated Reader Accounts (AR)

Accelerated Reader (AR) is used from 2nd grade through 8th grade. AR is a program designed to encourage students to read. AR tests student comprehension of books they have read using an online computer program.
  •  Students may only take AR test at school
  • Each book has point value assigned, which is the maximum number of points which can be earned for receiving a 100% on the quiz
  • Most books in your school's library have AR quizzes available, check with your library aide for verification
