Pediculosis (Head Lice)

Tecumseh Local School District Administrative Guidelines include a "nit-free" policy. Should a student be sent home with head lice, s/he has up to three (3) calendar days (as determined by the school nurse/administration) to be cleared to return to class. Students are not permitted to return the same day they are sent home. Hair must be clean and dry, free from any gels, oils, treatment conditioners, etc. in order to be checked. Prior to returning to class, the student must be checked by school staff. No student is permitted to ride the school bus until the child has been cleared by school staff. After the allotted time period, further actions may be initiated.
