Transportation In Lieu Form

The Board of Education may declare it impractical to provide transportation to non-public, private or charter schools based on the following criteria established by the Ohio Department of Education and Ohio R.C. 3327.02:
- The time and distance required to provide the transportation
- The number of pupils to be transported
- The cost of providing transportation in terms of equipment, maintenance, personnel and administration
- Whether similar or equivalent service is provided to other pupils eligible for transportation
- Whether and to what extent the additional service unavoidably disrupts current transportation schedules
To enable that action, the Tecumseh Board of Education and parents/guardians must complete several steps as follows:
- The parent/guardian must request transportation (see form below).
- The Board of Education will pass a resolution if declaring transportation to be impractical.
- The Board of Education will then provide the parent/guardian with notification of that resolution and ask the parent to accept the determination.
- The parent/guardian must acknowledge and return the waiver form to confirm their acceptance.
- Tecumseh Local Schools will then verify attendance for the school identified and make payment to the parent/guardian at the end of the school year.
