Tecumseh Local will provide transportation from Tecumseh High School to the Career Technology Center (CTC). Buses will depart from Tecumseh High School at 7:00 a.m. To accommodate transportation needs, we will offer several satellite locations throughout the district for students who require transportation to the high school to board the bus to CTC. The satellite locations and approximate pick-up times are listed below. Please ensure that your child is at the bus stop at least 5 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time.

Additionally, if your child participates in after-school activities, please be aware that we cannot guarantee they will return to Tecumseh in time for practices, games, meets, etc. These buses also serve other schools in Springfield, which may affect the timing of their return to our district.

NOTE: CTC students CAN NOT ride in on high school routes to then go to CTC. The CTC buses have already left for Springfield before the high school buses arrive at the building.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The rules and expectations for behavior on the bus mirror those of the classroom, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all students. It is crucial that students remain seated at all times and keep their heads, arms, hands, and other belongings inside the bus. For clarity and convenience, the bus rules are prominently posted on each vehicle. Adherence to these guidelines helps maintain a safe and orderly transportation experience.

  • Please remind and encourage students to maintain a safe distance of at least 10 feet from the bus when boarding or exiting. Additionally, they should wait for the driver's hand signals before crossing the street, ensuring their safety at all times. Thank you for reinforcing these important safety practices.

  • To ensure the safety of all students, we recommend that children arrive at their bus stop 5–10 minutes before the bus is expected. Per state law, students must be waiting at their designated stop at least 5 minutes prior to the bus's scheduled arrival. This precaution allows the driver to clearly see students as they approach the stop, reducing the risk of accidents caused by children running to catch the bus. Please be aware that factors such as weather, road conditions, and route adjustments may cause slight variations in bus arrival times. It is essential that your child be at the stop, ready to board, when the bus arrives. Your cooperation in following these guidelines helps maintain a safe and efficient transportation process.

  • Requests for bus changes to accommodate activities such as playdates, sleepovers, or visits to a friend's house cannot be approved. Parents and guardians are responsible for arranging their own transportation in these situations. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

  • Please note that changes to bus assignments are not permitted.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to establish a backup plan to address last-minute issues or emergencies within their family. Students who utilize bus transportation must ride to the same assigned address each day. In the event of an emergency, families have the option to pick up their child directly from school or, for students in grades K-8, utilize the Latchkey program for after-school care. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in ensuring a smooth transportation process.

  • CTC buses depart from the high school parking lot promptly at 7:00 a.m. In addition to the high school, there are designated community bus stops available for convenience. Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring their child arrives at either a community bus stop or the high school to catch the bus each morning. In the afternoon, the same buses will return students to their designated community bus stop or, if preferred, to the high school for those who have arranged for a ride. Thank you for supporting a smooth and efficient transportation process.

  • The primary responsibility of the bus driver is to ensure the safety of all students while maintaining focus and concentration on driving. To support this, drivers may assign seats to individual students or to all passengers if deemed necessary. As part of their disciplinary approach, drivers may also assign alternative corrective actions, such as writing assignments, in lieu of filing a formal report. Should a formal discipline report be submitted, it will be reviewed by the principal, who will determine the appropriate course of action. Thank you for supporting a safe and respectful environment on our buses.

  • Our foremost responsibility is to ensure the safe transportation of students. While the transportation of musical instruments is not a requirement, we are happy to accommodate them when space allows. To ensure safety, instruments must be securely stored behind a seat and may not obstruct the aisle. Thank you for your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines.

  • We are unable to accommodate temporary bus changes for short-term situations, such as single days or a few days, except in the case of a verified emergency. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

  • To ensure consistency and safety, students must adhere to a fixed schedule for their pick-up and drop-off locations. The morning pick-up address must remain the same Monday through Friday, and the afternoon drop-off address, though it may differ from the morning location, must also remain consistent throughout the week. Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a safe and reliable transportation routine.
