The Tecumseh School Counseling department believes that an integral part of the education process is to help individuals understand themselves and their environment.
It is our goal to provide opportunities for students to become life-long learners and to develop intra and interpersonal skills. This process requires a cooperative developmental guidance program that involves school, family and community. It is our hope that students will leave Tecumseh High School to become adaptive and productive members of an ever-changing society.

The purpose of a college visit is to get detailed information concerning a college that the student may wish to attend. It is advisable that parents attend the college visit with their student. Spontaneous visits to colleges are not preferred by the college because they do not always have time to meet with the students and parents. College visitations may be scheduled online or by calling the admissions office. Many colleges and universities also host open houses. These are generally held on Saturdays. The open houses offers more detailed information and additional staff are on hand to answer questions parents and
students may have.In order for a college visit to be counted as a "field trip," this form must be completed and submitted one week prior to the visit.

The Tecumseh Counseling Office is pleased to introduce Naviance Student – a mobile-friendly, comprehensive website that students can use to make plans about colleges and careers. Naviance Student is linked with Naviance™, a service that we use in our office to track and analyze data about college and career plans, so it provides up-to-date information that’s specific to our school. Naviance Student allows students to:
- Get involved in the planning and advising process – Build a resume, complete online surveys, and manage timelines and deadlines for making decisions about colleges and careers
- Research colleges – Compare GPA, standardized test scores, and other statistics to actual historical data from our school for students who have applied and been admitted in the past
- Research careers – Research hundreds of careers and career clusters, and take career assessments
- Create future plans – Create goals and to-dos, and complete tasks assigned by the school to better prepare your student for future college and career goals.
Naviance Student also lets us share information with students about upcoming meetings and events, local scholarship opportunities, and other resources for college and career information.
