Message from Principal Oakes

The school year continues to be off to a great start. Teachers and students have started settling into the routines of individual classrooms and the daily schedule. Additionally, students have done an excellent job of adhering to the cell phone policy. With that said, a reminder that students will begin using Yondr pouches on Monday, September 8, 2025.

I hope everyone has had a fantastic Labor Day Weekend! I'm not sure we could have asked for better weather.

Student Parking
  • Information regarding student parking tags can be accessed on the Tecumseh High School webpage under Resources. Students must have a THS Parking Tag in order to access and use the student parking lot.

Yondr Update
  • Students will receive their Yondr Pouch on September 4. We will begin using them on Monday, September 8, 2025.

  • What are the expectations for students:

  1. Per Ohio Law all devices used for personal communication should be placed in the Yondr Pouch- phone, smartwatch, airbuds/airpods.
  2. Students will place these items into their pouch during Pride Period and lock their pouches.
  3. At the end of the day students will pass by magnets strategically placed at exits where they will unlock their pouch, remove items, and lock the pouch until the next day.

  • What if my student has a medical condition requiring the use of their phone?

  1. Students with medical conditions will receive a medical Yondr that allows them to access their phones for brief periods during the school day.
  2. Students with medical conditions they believe require use of their cell phone will need to submit required paperwork that includes a doctors signature.

  • What if my student forgets their Yondr Pouch?

  1. Pride teachers will send them to the office to turn their devices in and they will pick them up at the end of the day.

  • What if my student leaves school without unlocking their Yondr Pouch

  1. There will be a Yondr magnet located on the outside of the building that they can use after school hours

Miami of Ohio University Bridges Program
Miami University is proud to present the Bridges Program, which was founded 40 years ago by Black students who sought to make a Miami degree more accessible to students and ensure that their experiences here would be rewarding. The Bridges Program is an engaging experience that offers a unique insight into Miami University for prospective first-generation students or those with demonstrated financial need, enabling them to interact with our current students, faculty, and staff.

Scholarship Information
Students who complete the Bridges Program, apply to Miami University, are accepted, and enroll on the Oxford campus for fall 2026 will be eligible to receive the Bridges Program scholarship. Last year, Bridges scholarship values ranged from $2,500 to $5,000 annually. Students can "stack" this scholarship with other Miami awards, allowing for the use of multiple scholarships to cover student expenses. In fact, most Bridges participants receive multiple awards, for total values ranging from half to full tuition.

The 2025 Bridges Program application is now open. The application deadline is September 26. Learn more about the program and the application process during the Bridges 101 information session on September 10. Please see Ms. Talley if you have any questions.

Come and explore what it is like to be an Operating Engineer! Operating Engineers are highly skilled individuals found on any project using heavy construction equipment, including bulldozers, front-end loaders, graders, backhoes, and drills, to name a few.

During the SHEDIG field trip, participants will have the opportunity to run several pieces of equipment, (yes! you can drive!) meet with other women in the field, and discuss the advantages of an apprenticeship program. To participate, you will need to have your final forms completed, as well as the two forms below. The first form is used to sign you up for the field trip. The second form directs you to the SHEDIG site, where you can learn more about the program. Please scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the yellow registration box at the bottom of the page. Please complete the registration with a parent.   ****There are only 30 spots available for this trip.

Questions? Contact Ms. Talley in the Guidance office or Mr. Drake in room A131
