If your child requires medication during the school day, please review the following important guidelines:
Doctor’s Order and Parent Permission: All medications, including prescription and over-the-counter, must have a written doctor’s order and parent permission on file. This is a state law requirement.
Inhalers and Emergency Medications: Students who carry inhalers or other emergency medications must have the appropriate forms on file in the nurse's office. This ensures compliance with state law and supports your child’s health needs.
Carrying Medications: Students are not permitted to carry any medications (prescription or over-the-counter) on school property unless the proper paperwork is on file in the clinic.
If you have questions or need assistance, please contact the school nurse by phone or email.
End of the School Year
Please plan to pick up your child’s medication by their last day of school. The school is unable to store medications over the summer, and any remaining medications will be discarded.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and healthy school environment!
No child, at the time of initial entry or at the beginning of each school year, shall be permitted to remain in school for more than fourteen (14) school days unless the child presents written evidence that s/he has been immunized or is "in the process of being immunized". "In the process of being immunized" means the student has been immunized against mumps, rubeola, rubella, and chicken pox, and if the student has not been immunized against polio, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, and hepatitis B, the student has received at least the first dose of the immunization sequence, and presents written evidence to the principal or Superintendent of each subsequent dose required to obtain immunization at the intervals prescribed by the Director of Health.
Any student previously admitted under auspices of "in the process of being immunized" who has not complied with the prescribed immunization intervals shall be excluded from school on the fifteenth (15th) school day of the following school year. The excluded student shall be readmitted upon showing evidence to the principal or Superintendent of progress on the prescribed immunization interval schedule.
Tecumseh Local School district is committed to supporting student health and success through regular vision and hearing screenings. These screenings help identify potential issues early, ensuring every student has the tools they need to thrive in the classroom. Parents will be notified if follow-up care is recommended. For more information, please contact your child’s school nurse or access the link below.
Clinic Forms for Parents
To support your child's health needs, the clinic provides downloadable forms for medication dispensing, asthma action plans, allergy action plans, and seizure action plans. These forms ensure proper care and compliance with school policies. Parents are encouraged to complete and submit the necessary forms to the clinic before the start of the school year or as soon as a health condition arises. For assistance or additional information, please contact the school nurse.

Students requiring the use of an elevator or wheelchair must provide a written note from a doctor or athletic trainer to the nurse, specifying the reason and duration of use. Upon approval, the student will receive an elevator pass, which must remain visible during its use.
When the student no longer requires the elevator or wheelchair, they must return the pass to the clinic. All students using these accommodations are expected to adhere to the student code of conduct, and any misuse or abuse may result in disciplinary action.
For safety reasons, elevators must not be used during fire or tornado drills, or in the event of an actual fire or tornado. Instead, students should proceed to the mezzanine area near the elevator and wait for assistance from a staff member.
Your cooperation helps ensure safety and accessibility for everyone.
