At NCES, students have the opportunity to earn positive referrals from staff for going above and beyond. We are incredibly proud of those students who have received positive referrals each month!
When students earn a positive referral, their photo is taken and they receive a special reward, either a bracelet, candy, or a pencil. In addition, their photo is proudly displayed in the hallway and they are recognized during our morning announcements (available on our YouTube channel). It's a truly exciting moment for our students!
WAY TO GO, KIDS!!!
You’re setting a great example for others.
Keep up the amazing work!
Just a reminder if you have made any changes to your phone number, address, or other contact information, please update your records in Final Forms as soon as possible. Keeping your information current ensures that we can reach you promptly when needed.

We would like to take a moment to emphasize how important regular school attendance is for your child’s success. Being present at school each day allows students to fully participate in instruction, build strong learning habits, and stay connected with their teachers and classmates.
When students miss school, they miss valuable learning opportunities that are often difficult to replace. Frequent absences can lead to gaps in understanding, make it harder for students to keep up with classwork, and impact overall academic progress. Just as importantly, consistent attendance helps students develop responsibility, routine, and a sense of belonging within our school community.
We understand that absences are sometimes unavoidable due to illness or family circumstances, and we appreciate your communication in those situations. When possible, we ask for your support in ensuring that your child attends school regularly and arrives on time each day.
Thank you for partnering with us to support student learning and success. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance.

Our Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on February 10 and 11. These conferences provide an important opportunity for families to meet with teachers, review academic progress, discuss social and emotional growth, and collaborate on goals for the remainder of the school year. Your participation is crucial in helping us support your child’s learning and success.
We strongly encourage all families to take part in these conferences, as they allow teachers to share individualized information and for families to ask questions, celebrate accomplishments, and address any concerns.
Your engagement makes a meaningful difference in your child’s school experience.
Information on how to sign up for a conference time will be shared by your child's teacher. Call the office if you have any questions regarding conferences.
We greatly appreciate your support and look forward to connecting with you in February.

Take a look below at the information about our Culture Playbook.
|
A culture playbook is a shared guide that explains what our school community believes in and how we work together every day. It outlines our core values, expectations, and common practices so that students, staff, and families all have a clear understanding of what our school culture looks like in action.
In our school setting, the culture playbook helps define how we treat one another, how we support student learning and behavior, and how we partner with families. It provides consistency across classrooms and grade levels, reinforces positive behaviors, and ensures that everyone is working toward the same goals. For parents, it serves as a transparent reference for what to expect from the school and how to support those expectations at home.
|
Our students are focusing on acting with purpose, being their best selves, and continuing to work hard—even when things feel challenging. We are encouraging students to set goals, stay motivated, and take pride in their learning.
We are also emphasizing the importance of caring for ourselves, building confidence, and developing a growth mindset. Students are learning that effort, practice, and learning from mistakes help them grow and improve.
Finally, we are reinforcing perseverance and problem-solving. Growth often requires stepping outside of our comfort zone, and students are encouraged to keep going, learn from challenges, and never give up.
At Tecumseh Local Schools, we are committed to excellence and believe that hard work, resilience, and a passion for growth help all students succeed.

We want to ensure students stay on track when they are absent, and we appreciate your support in this process. Lately, we have had a high number of requests for homework to be sent home immediately. Please understand that our teachers are in the classroom teaching all day, and preparing homework packets takes time. To ensure requests are completed accurately, homework requests must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance.
Homework Requests: Homework requests will be accepted for students who have been absent two or more consecutive days. No additional homework requests will be processed until previously requested assignments have been returned completed. All homework sent home is due upon the student’s return to school.
Make-Up Work: Upon returning to school after an absence, students are responsible for contacting each teacher to obtain any necessary make-up work. Assignments must be completed by the date designated by the teacher, typically one day per day of absence. Please remember that make-up work is the student’s responsibility, not the teacher’s.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as our teachers balance preparing make-up work with providing instruction for all students. Your support helps us ensure that every student receives the attention and guidance they need to succeed.
Most importantly, our goal is for students to get better and return to school as soon as possible, because regular attendance is critical to their learning and overall success. While make-up work helps keep students on track, nothing can fully replace being present in class, participating in lessons, and engaging with peers.
Our Homework Policy is In the Elementary Handbook on page 20.

NCES Book Fair is coming up, February 9-12. We are asking for your help. Parent volunteers are needed to assist students, help with setup, and keep the fair running smoothly throughout the day. Even a short amount of time makes a big difference.
This is a great way to support literacy at our school and be involved in a fun experience for our students. If you are able to help, please watch for sign-up information from our PTO.
Thank you for your continued support of our school community.

Safer Ohio School Tip Line
The Safer Ohio School Tip Line is a free safety resource available to all Ohio schools. The tip line is an anonymous reporting system that accepts both calls and texts 24 hours a day.
This tip line allows students and adults to anonymously share information with school officials and law enforcement about threats to student safety—whether that involves a threatened mass incident or harm to a single student.
Things to report to the tip line include (but are not limited to):
- Bullying incidents;
- Withdrawn student behaviors;
- Verbal or written threats observed toward students, faculty or schools;
- Weapon/suspicious devices on or near school grounds;
- Gang related activities;
- Unusual/suspicious behavior of students or staff;
- Self-harm or suicidal sentiments; and
- Any other school safety related concerns.
Every tip can remain anonymous. School safety analysts may ask for additional information, but the caller can remain secret or leave his or her contact information for later follow-up.
Calls or texts to 844-SaferOH (844-723-3764) are answered by analysts within Ohio Homeland Security. If action is needed, the analysts immediately forward information to local school officials, law enforcement agencies and the Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) for action and follow up.
The OSSC partners with the Ohio Department of Education to follow up with affected school and law enforcement agencies to make sure that the incident is investigated, action is taken and resources and supports are provided when necessary.

The Education Connection is a telephone number that you can call 24-hours a day to listen to your child’s homework assignments, report your child’s absence, hear the lunch menu, find out the scores of the big game, hear about school closings and leave a private message for a staff member.
You will still need to call your child in if they will not be attending school, or doing their online work for the day. We will still need to document attendance. We are marking students with green, yellow and red attendance.
Please use the TEC number for:
- Calling your child in sick.
- Leave a voicemail with questions.
