We have worked hard to devise safe and efficient procedures for arrival and dismissal times with the emphasis on safety. We ask for your continued patience as you navigate the system. Please make sure the school office is aware of any transportation changes immediately. Your child's busing will be based upon what they did the previous year unless you tell us otherwise.
If a student is being picked up we ask that ALL PARENTS IN VEHICLES REMAIN IN THEIR VEHICLE. Please follow the route detailed in the link at the bottom. Each Parent Pick-Up student has been given 2 colored placards/signs. If more than one person routinely picks up your child, one can be shared with the other pick up person.
If a student has no older siblings arriving on shuttle buses he/she will be released at 3:00 pm and has been given a green placard. Parents should place their placard(s) in the front window of their vehicle and a staff member will radio in for the child. (If you would like to change your child to the later pick up time because you are picking up older students off the shuttles, please email Mrs. Strader at email@example.com or send a text message to 937-206-2265.)
If a student has an older sibling arriving on a shuttle bus, he/she will be released at 3:15 pm or as soon as shuttle buses arrive, and has been given an orange placard with his/her name. Again, parents should place their placard in the front window of their vehicle. Older students will pick up K1 students as they come through the building from the shuttle buses.
Parents who WALK to pick up students will pick up students at the front doors. The only students who should be picked up at the front doors should be students in the Walk Zone at Park Layne.
If a child is just a parent pickup for the day, parents must park in a parking space and go into the office to sign the child out. All transportation changes should be made in writing. In emergencies, parents may call the school office before 1:30 p.m. to make a change. Realize that every transportation change brings with it the chance that your child will get confused and a mistake will be made. Please work with us to keep your child's transportation plan constant throughout the week and the year.
A final reminder, when dropping off students in the morning to catch shuttle buses or for school here at Park Layne, please pull to the curb and have students exit the vehicle on the curb side. DO NOT PARK ON THE CURB AND LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE. Kindergarten and 1st grade students may be dropped off at 7:50 ONLY IF AN OLDER STUDENT IS BEING DROPPED OFF TO CATCH A SHUTTLE BUS. All other K1 students may be dropped off at 8:10 a.m. if they are eating breakfast and 8:25 a.m. if they are going straight to class. Please DO NOT walk students to the front doors. Just allow students to walk to the front doors on their own after you drop them off on the front curb. A staff member will be on duty at the front doors. Buses leave for DN and PL by 7:55 am. Please drop students off to catch the shuttle buses between 7:45 and 7:50 am.
